ChatGPT Ads in Gurugram: a guide for local and B2B businesses
Gurugram has more in-house marketing teams and agencies per square kilometre than anywhere else in Haryana, and many of them will already have opened ChatGPT Ads Manager to look around. This guide is for two groups who should approach it differently: B2B and D2C businesses run from the Cyber City side of town, and the clinics, salons, restaurants and service firms serving the residential sectors.

Basics, briefly
ChatGPT ads appear below the end of an answer, labelled as sponsored, for users mainly on the Free and Go plans. They do not influence the answer, and selection works on conversation context, your page and copy, context hints, targeting and bids rather than keyword auctions. Setup, objectives and budget rules, including the ₹725 minimum daily budget for INR billing that OpenAI’s help centre lists as of October 2026, are covered in our ChatGPT Ads India guide.
For B2B firms: a research-stage channel, not a lead machine
B2B buying in Gurugram, whether software, logistics, office fit-outs, staffing or IT services, usually starts with someone working out what they need before speaking to a vendor. That research increasingly happens in conversation. An operations manager might ask how to compare warehouse management systems for a mid-sized distributor, or what an office fit-out for a forty-person team involves. An HR lead might ask how to structure contract staffing for a seasonal peak.
An ad that sits under that kind of answer will rarely produce a signed contract directly. What it can do is put a useful next step in front of the right person: a comparison checklist, a scoping guide, a short call with a specialist. Build the landing page around that step rather than a generic demo request, and use the Conversions objective only once the conversion event on that page is tested and firing.
Two practical rules matter for Gurugram firms with international structures. The advertising legal entity must be based in a country where Ads Manager is available, and India is listed as available. And some new self-serve accounts can initially advertise only in their home country until identity verification and a spend threshold are met. If your plan was to target overseas buyers from an Indian account on day one, expect that to wait.
Custom audiences need at least 25,000 matched users for inclusion. Larger D2C brands may have customer lists that size; most B2B firms will not, so plan around context hints and location instead.
For D2C brands: product questions with context
Gurugram’s D2C brands already know paid social and search well. The difference here is the moment. Someone asking ChatGPT which protein powder suits a vegetarian diet, how to choose a mattress for back support or what to pack for a first Himalayan trek has given a lot of context, and the answer they just read has done some of the education for you. Ad copy that names that situation, and a landing page that opens on the matching product with clear delivery and returns, fits better than a sale banner.
Note that new product-feed campaigns are country level only, so a feed-based test is a national test, not a Gurugram one.
For neighbourhood businesses in the sectors
Restaurants, salons, gyms, pet services, home-repair firms and tuition centres serve the residential sectors and the newer towers along the expressways. Some of their customers do plan with ChatGPT: a family new to the city asking how to find a reliable home cleaning service, or a parent asking how to choose weekend activity classes for a seven-year-old in Gurugram.
The catch is geography. Gurugram is spread out and traffic decides who will visit. OpenAI allows city and postal-code targeting for most campaigns where available, and availability varies by country, so check during setup what Gurugram options actually appear. If you cannot get closer than the city, name your sectors in the context hints, the ad copy and the first line of the landing page.
Measuring a Gurugram test properly
Gurugram marketing teams are used to granular reporting, and they will find this one thin. OpenAI gives aggregated views and clicks, plus conversion events where configured. You do not see the conversations, and there is no search terms report. Set a fixed test window and budget, send traffic to a dedicated page, tag it separately in analytics, and judge it on qualified enquiries in your CRM rather than on clicks. Users can also message advertisers through an ad, so route those messages to someone who can qualify a lead the same day.
Agencies in Gurugram testing this for clients should set expectations in writing before launch. Explain that the product is in beta, that delivery depends on a regional rollout, that there are no conversation-level reports, and that the test is designed to answer one question: does this channel produce qualified enquiries at a cost the client would accept from Google or Meta? A clear stopping rule agreed in advance protects both sides from arguing over thin data later.
Where we teach this
Common questions
They can be, as a research-stage channel. B2B buyers often work out their requirements in conversation before contacting vendors, and an ad below that answer can offer a useful next step such as a checklist, scoping guide or specialist call. Expect few direct contracts from it. OpenAI provides only aggregated views, clicks and configured conversion events, so track the traffic on a dedicated page and judge it on qualified enquiries in your CRM, compared with what Google Search and LinkedIn already deliver.
Not always straight away. The advertising legal entity must be based in a country where Ads Manager is available, and OpenAI lists India as available. However, some new self-serve accounts can initially advertise only in their home country until identity verification is complete and a spend threshold is met. A Gurugram firm planning to reach overseas buyers should expect to start with India-only campaigns and check the account’s status in Ads Manager before planning international targeting.
Check during setup. OpenAI says most campaigns can target states, cities, markets and postal codes where available, and that availability varies by country. Product-feed campaigns are limited to country level. If sector-level or postal-code targeting is not offered for Gurugram, name the sectors you serve in your context hints, your ad copy and the top of your landing page, so the ad reads as relevant to nearby residents and less so to people across the city.
